Get A No-Cost Home Energy Assessment
Summary: One of the first Actions to take if you're a homeowner
Description
Why an assessment of your home and energy systems?
- Are your energy bills higher than you like? Do you just feel like energy is being wasted, but you don't know where, or what to do about it?
- Do you want to get rid of cold drafts, moisture or mold in your home?
- Improve temperature control?
- Insulate against noise?
- Address problems with ice dams and other structural concerns?
- Are you concerned about your home contributing to allergies, asthma, or heat related health issues?
A Mass Save Home Energy Assessment can help! And it's no-cost!
The Melrose Energy Commission has partnered with HomeWorks Energy, a Mass Save® participating Home Performance Contractor, to provide eligible Melrose residents with no-cost home energy assessments. Join your neighbors who have already had an assessment and are now saving money and energy every month on their utility bills.
Rebates! With your no-cost Mass Save® home energy assessment you’ll receive:
- 75% to 100% off installed insulation
- LED light bulbs, water-saving fixtures, smart power strips and programmable thermostats
- No-cost air sealing to reduce air leakage
- 0% financing on qualified efficiency improvements, such as insulation and heating systems with a HEAT loan
- A home safety inspection
If you had an assessment in the last three years and already have a Mass Save insulation recommendation, you can still qualify for the incentive! Check with the company who did that assessment to check if you qualify, and if you do, the incentive will be applied to the existing assessment.
A MassSave Home Energy Assessment is the first step to take before making any changes to your home and will give you a good idea of its energy efficiency and help guide you in deciding on actions you can take. If you are interested in making more comprehensive changes to make your home highly efficient and really reduce the carbon footprint of your home, going toward net-zero, contact us and we can connect you with a Home Energy coach.
Deep Dive
Why is it no-cost to me? As a National Grid customer, you have already been paying into this program on your utility bill, so it’s worthwhile to take advantage of it. Thanks to the Green Communities Act of 2008, Massachusetts utilities and energy efficiency service providers that sponsor Mass Save are required by the state to provide energy efficiency programs.
What does a home energy assessment entail? A customized energy report tailored specifically to your home.
Energy-saving products recommended during your assessment at no cost, and for you to install, include:
- ENERGY STAR® LED light bulbs
- Advanced power strips
- Low-flow showerheads
- Faucet aerators
- Efficient thermostats
Also:
- 75% - 100% off approved insulation improvements.
- No-cost targeted air sealing.
- Generous rebates on qualifying energy-efficient heating, cooling, and water heating equipment.
- The opportunity to apply for 0% HEAT Loan financing for eligible upgrades.
I had one of these a while ago. Can I have one again? If you have not had your home assessed in the last three years, you can have it done again. It may be time to improve your insulation, or check out technologies like smart thermostats, and the incentives for new heating systems have increased as well so it’s a good idea to revisit the plan for your home .
You may be eligible for additional incentives on energy efficiency improvements if you have low or moderate income. Check here if this applies to you!
